Gymnastics and Adults

Where adult gymnasts find each other

For a long time I thought I was the only one. A woman in her late forties walking back into a gym, quietly certain someone was going to ask what she was doing there. It turns out there are thousands of us. These are the places I found, and what each one gave me.

Everything Adult Gymnastics

The first place I went looking for proof that adults did this. There is a map that shows you which gyms near you actually welcome grown-ups, which was the single hardest thing to find when I started. If you are wondering whether there is somewhere to begin, begin here.

Just Like Fine Wine — Adult Gymnastics

A private Facebook group of more than seventeen thousand adult gymnasts, recreational and competitive, and the coaches who work with them. People post the skill they have been chasing for eight months and the day it finally comes. On the hard days, this is the room I go stand in.

The Original Adult Gymnastics Camp

Three days in Brentwood, New Hampshire, on real equipment, with coaches who take adult athletes seriously. Every level is there, including people on their very first day. The 2026 camp is its fifteenth year, July 26 through 28. If you only do one thing on this page, look at this one.

Olympian Chellsie Memmel's Camp

Chellsie came back to competitive gymnastics in her thirties, after a decade away, and I do not think I can overstate what that meant to watch. Her camp is a chance to train with someone who understands exactly what it costs to return to something.

Finding her people

Adult gymnastics is bigger than one comeback.

The camps Lori found after returning gave her something she had not expected: a full gym of adults who understood why the sport still mattered.
